Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is scheduled to take place on May 24 in Delhi. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s participation in this meeting remains uncertain. In the previous meeting held on July 27 last year, Mamata Banerjee left the session midway, citing that her microphone was switched off while she was delivering her speech.
Mamata Banerjee had stated, “My microphone was turned off during my speech,” and later clarified from Kolkata that a bell rang to cut short her speech, which led her to feel insulted and leave the meeting. Following this incident, she announced that she would no longer attend future NITI Aayog Governing Council meetings.
The upcoming meeting has drawn attention to whether Mamata Banerjee will choose to attend. Her participation or absence will be officially confirmed closer to the date of the meeting. The NITI Aayog Governing Council includes chief ministers of all states and union territories and is a key platform for discussing national and state-level policy matters.
